While Starbucks rolls out the famous Pumpkin Spice Latte at the end of August, we don't hit the homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer hard in my house until mid-September or early October.
No matter how you enjoy it, Pumpkin Spice season always feels like it's a little too short. That's why we make our Almond Flour Pumpkin Muffins and Flourless Pumpkin Pancakes year-round!

How is this recipe different from a Latte?
My Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer is super simple, with just 3 ingredients, and meant to be added to your regular everyday coffee! Our Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte has 6 ingredients, is a little milder (in the way a creamy latte is milder than a strong cup of black coffee), and uses only simple ingredients.
I make both depending on my mood, and am most likely to use this Pumpkin Spice Creamer when I have less time for meal prep, like during the work week!

Ingredient Notes + Substitutions
I kid you not, you need only three ingredients for a delicious and easy homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer with sweetened condensed milk!

Sweetened Condensed Milk
Those little cans of sweetened condensed milk are often super handy for holiday desserts, and it works marvelously in Pumpkin Spice Creamer!
For a dairy-free version, use Sweetened Condensed Coconut Milk. I specifically recommend Nature's Charm brand because the size of the can, grams of fat, and sugar content closely mimic traditional sweetened condensed milk. That is not the case with some of the other brands (including the Let's Do Organic Brand) and I cannot guarantee good results with other brands.
Sweetened condensed milk is already pretty sweet, but you can add a little extra sweetener if needed. Sugar, brown sugar, and maple syrup are all nice additions.
Pumpkin Puree
I like a thick pumpkin puree like Libby's brand. A thick pumpkin puree will impart a stronger pumpkin flavor without the extra liquid that would water down this coffee creamer. While I like organic ingredients, I find that most organic pumpkin purees are more watery.
Pumpkin Pie Spice
Use your favorite brand or try my well-loved Homemade Pumpkin Spice Recipe. Pumpkin pie spice is primarily a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and allspice. Sometimes ground cloves are also part of the mix.
See the recipe card for a full list of ingredients with quantities.
Variations
The beauty of this pumpkin spice coffee creamer recipe is its simplicity. Therefore, I do not recommend many variations.
- Vegan and dairy-free - Use the Sweetened Condensed Coconut Milk. I like the Nature's Charm brand.
- Make it your own - Adjust the ingredient proportions to fit your tastes or add a little vanilla extract for a smooth flavor.
Check out my Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe for a variation using espresso, steamed milk of choice, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice.
Step-by-Step Instructions
There are only two steps to this easy homemade pumpkin coffee creamer recipe: Mix the ingredients together and put them into your coffee!
- Pumpkin Creamer: Add all ingredients to a small bowl or jar. Whisk or stir until well-combined. If using sweetened condensed coconut milk at a cool temperature, the texture may be very thick but it melts right into your hot coffee.
- Pumpkin Coffee: Add 3 tablespoons of creamer to an 8-12 ounce coffee. Adjust to taste and enjoy!

Expert Tips
Make the best pumpkin coffees with this homemade pumpkin spice coffee creamer using these expert tips.
Mix the Ingredients before each use if storing in one large batch.
Because the ingredients can separate a little bit, give the jar a shake or stir before using the pumpkin spice creamer in your coffee or tea. Or avoid this step altogether with the next tip!
Instant Pumpkin Coffees
For near instant Pumpkin Coffees in the morning, portion the Pumpkin Creamer into 12 ounce jars with lids (I put 3 tablespoons per jar). Store the jars in the refrigerator.
In the morning, make your coffee per usual and pour it directly in the jar and stir. Pumpkin Coffee in no time!
Recipe FAQs
Here I answered some frequently asked questions about this Homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer. Don't see your question? Leave it in the comments at the end of this post and I'll answer within two business days.
Store leftover pumpkin spice creamer in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7-10 days. I like to keep it in a mason jar or salsa jar.
Both evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk are dairy milk products that have been heated until 60% of the liquid has been evaporated. The difference is that sweetened condensed milk is sweetened, and evaporated milk has not been sweetened.
You can use evaporated milk instead of sweetened condensed milk, but you will need to add your own sweetener to taste.
As is, this Homemade Pumpkin Spice Creamer tastes like pumpkin pie! If you like it a little less sweet, mix in some evaporated milk (unsweetened) in place of the sweetened condensed milk. You can also add a little bit of your regular coffee creamer to the mix.
Unfortunately, this recipe is not suited to regular oat milk. However, Nature's Charm brand does make a sweetened condensed oat milk that works perfectly in this recipe. For a recipe using regular oat milk, check out my Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe.
